Hello everyone, I own a secondary PC with these details: RAM: 3x4GB DDR3, CPU: FX-6300, GPU: GTX 1050, 2GB RAM, Power supply: quiet model (exact model not important), CPU type: Phenom II X6. I understand the official support is limited to Phenom II X6 CPUs, but FX processors can be used as well without problems. The system runs smoothly overall. I’m worried about the voltage settings, as the BIOS suggests 1.55 volts and can only set it to that level. Going lower could cause instability. In past experiences, with similar Phenom CPUs, the voltage was kept around 1.15 volts, and everything worked well. Now the PC freezes after some time—hours or even a full day—and then crashes. The BIOS is up to date, and the motherboard supports the latest firmware. I suspect the issue might be related to the CPU voltage stability, especially at higher frequencies. Even though the VRM handles it well and doesn’t overheat, the voltage fluctuation could stress the components over time. Using a lower voltage might eventually lead to long-term damage, though it seems unlikely with the current setup.

It works with just the Bulldozer FX chips, not the Vishera ones (the ones ending in 300). Perhaps attempt installing a non-beta BIOS and check if it functions.

Well, actually not so much... There is a bios recovery on the original disk, which means it's the factory shipped version. You'd install that and then upgrade from there. But using it might take you out of support for the FX chips. I'm going to suggest this might just be a misinterpretation. The 1.55v setting is quite high and would definitely raise CPU temperatures.

1.55v is significantly higher than necessary. FX units can handle stock CPU-NB speeds with just 1.1v's effortlessly. Speeds near 1.1v to 1.2v are suitable for regular tasks, and the maximum reliable CPU-NB speed remains at 2400, whether you're using a Zambezi or Vishera FX chip. For the CPU directly, 1.35v's is adequate for its baseline performance.

The board doesn<|pad|>'s opinion on the Vishera core FX chips. I verified it myself, which seems to confirm the situation. Running at 1.55v isn't feasible either—even with heavy overclocking on memory and LN2, it wouldn't be necessary. How much have you pushed your board during previous Zerker sessions? I recall reaching up to 1.45v. I'm sure you've also pushed it to around 1.55v at some point, though never exceeding it on Dice or LN2.

That's why I mentioned it doesn't matter whether it's a Zambezi or Vishera, both fit the voltage levels I described. Regarding the CPU-NB voltage I've pushed before, it's well over 1.7v—actually significantly higher. On LN2 of course.
