I'm unable to connect to Steam on my device. I can use the client, download games I already have, get updates, and play multiplayer. However, I can't access communities or the Steam store, and I keep getting internet connection errors. Normally I just reinstall Steam, but the same problem appears when trying any .steampowered.com link. After switching to a VPN, I was able to access Steam in my browser. The fix seems to be changing my IP address, but since I'm using Optus and unplugging the modem won't help, I'm unsure how to resolve this without altering my IP. This issue also occurred on my laptop and the Steam app on my phone until I switched to 4G.
Steam could experience a slowdown because of Halloween promotions.
Make sure to review the email linked in Steam. It’s possible you’ve been banned, or your ISP is no longer permitting Steam through your modem. Curious, right? Also, try pinging the Steam site to see if it responds.
Not prohibited since my account remains able to log in and access Steam from any other IP address.
