When attempting to launch the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility, the system displays an error stating that drivers are not running. A restart might be required if the utility was recently installed; otherwise, download the most recent version from the official Intel website. Before proceeding, note that I successfully opened the tool normally and attempted to adjust the CPU frequency to 4.7GHz via Auto Overclock. I switched from air cooling to water cooling with a 240mm setup, removed and reinstalled the CPU from the CPU snapper, reapplied silicone grease, and touched the capacitor on the front CPU’s green bezel, though I cleaned it afterward. After rebooting, the system warned of a new CPU and asked to press F1 to enter Setup. I did not make any further adjustments and accessed the system. Trying to open the utility again failed. I removed the installed version, cleared all remnants, reinstalled, and rebooted, but it still couldn’t launch.

Check if the version matches your setup. Confirm it’s the latest release required by the error code. Ensure the same file was reinstalled as before. Consider re-downloading it. Verify the source—Microsoft or an unknown site? Run a malware check if needed.

Yes, I haven’t made any changes yet.
That’s correct.
I’ve downloaded it from the official site.
And I’m not sure if Kaspersky is installed.

It’s something everyone experiences. Information gets lost. Reminder about malware: Nice feature, but the free version doesn’t activate automatically. Just press the button. Minimal risk at best if you’re not using heavy processors. Edited June 7, 2022 by Bombastinator

Hello, I see you're facing the same problem with XTU not starting. I haven't found a solution on Google or Intel sites. The installed version isn't launching, and neither did driver updates. Let me know if you need further help!

Follow Intel's detailed guidelines. Power down and reset CMOS. Ensure all chipset drivers are current. If the OS was swapped, uninstall previous drivers before adding new ones. Restart according to instructions. Proceed with installing the newest XTU release. Success is within reach!

Check if Windows 11 is installed. Review the Windows Features list for virtualization settings. Tools such as XTU require direct CPU access, which virtualization may block. Options like Virtual Machine Platform, Hyper-V, Windows Hypervisor platform, Windows Subsystem for Linux, and Core Isolation Memory Integrity should be turned off individually. Reboot after disabling each one and attempt installation again. Antivirus software might also interfere—let me know if you need help.

@unclewebb and @Heliian provided their responses. I’m using Windows 10 with virtualisation turned off. I reinstalled XTU multiple times after checking everything, but it still doesn’t work. I also updated all Intel drivers, including the management engine ones, yet there’s no improvement. I’m using Windows Defender and think it shouldn’t interfere. @Guest 5150 noted that reinstalling XTU didn’t help either. I plan to try the CMOS clearing method, though I doubt it will make a difference on a fresh installation. Looking forward!

Please note that the clear CMOS didn't resolve the issue. I'm still working through the debugging, and I may ask for more help from the intel team. Thanks for your support—feel free to share other ideas if you'd like! Cheers!
