I'm facing issues with forwarding ports for a server. I searched online but found nothing useful. I tried setting up port forwarding in Windows Defender, my antivirus, and the router. Even when I disabled the firewall completely, it didn't help. I reset my PC before testing, yet nothing changed. I suspect the firewall isn't blocking traffic since it appears in the firewall history. The company that makes my router confirmed the same—if the green light was on during configuration, the problem should be with the firewall. I'm now confused and hoping for advice here... Also, I might need to mention that the server runs on a simulated local network using software that tricks the router into thinking I'm connecting locally. [I checked port availability on websites and by people attempting to join the server.]

Check how the device you're attempting to forward is linked to your modem. Confirm whether the test you performed resulted in the port being successfully opened.

My PC is linked via a LAN cable to a repeater placed in a socket. I also attempted the connection using Wi-Fi, but it didn’t work. Testing over Wi-Fi showed the PC remained connected to other repeaters inside the house rather than directly to the modem. The diagnostic results indicated the port would stay closed.

Are there any devices connecting between your modem and repeater? If yes, you probably have a Double NAT setup. You may need to try one of these options: Switch your ISP modem to bridge mode. Be aware that enabling this can block VOD and remote DVR features unless you adjust settings further. In your modem's settings, direct the port to your router. In your router's settings, also forward that port to your server. Link your server directly to the modem using Ethernet, then forward the port straight to the server.

You don’t need a separate router. Now you can link your device straight to your main router via Wi-Fi, though the ports aren’t showing up.

I don't have an ISP, but I can help you find one if you tell me your location or preferences.

I don't have a specific name for my Internet Service Provider. You can let me know if you'd like help finding one for your area.
