Hey everyone,
I’m reaching out for some advice.
I recently purchased a new CPU (Ryzen 7 5700x3d) and upgraded my RAM, but the PC still isn’t booting properly. After updating the BIOS and trying to boot with the old CPU without problems, I completed the swap and installed the new RAM. Once everything was set up, the PC started but wouldn’t pass the manufacturer’s boot screen, making it impossible to enter BIOS.
I’ve done some troubleshooting: reset the CMOS, re-seated the RAM, and even used the old RAM to check for issues. The VGA light came on, but the GPU didn’t work before the upgrade. The fans started spinning up and then stopped. I searched extensively and tried various solutions, but ended up buying a different motherboard (MSI b550 tomahawk).
After flashing the BIOS via USB and reinstalling everything, I still don’t see the manufacturer logo on the new board. The DRAM light is on, but the GPU fans are now working correctly without any problems. I’ve tested both sets of old RAM and the new ones, yet I keep encountering errors and no display appears at all. All lights seem to be functioning, including the GPU fans.
Anyone have a clue what’s going on?

Old specs: Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB, Gigabyte Ab350 motherboard, Ryzen 5 1600, 4x 4GB Corsair vengeance 3000MHz RAM, Cooler Master G550m, Samsung 500GB SSD, 1TB HD.
New specs: Gigabyte GTX 1060 3GB, MSI b550 tomahawk motherboard, Ryzen 7 5700x3d, 2x 16GB Corsair vengeance 3200MHz RAM, Cooler Master G550m, Samsung 500GB SSD, 1TB.

What is the age of your PSU in this build?
Are both RAM sticks installed in slots A2 and B2?
I've updated the BIOS via USB flash drive and followed the standard installation steps.
To confirm we're aligned, did you also read the instructions in your motherboard manual?

The build is around 7 years old, probably closer to 8. There were no problems with the PSU before, and the wattage should be enough according to the guidelines.
Yes, that's correct. I followed the motherboard manual, connected only the PSU initially to test, and waited until the red lights near the flash bios button stopped and indicated completion. I also performed a CMOS reset. I repeated this process on the old board—reconnecting everything after a recent wiring attempt—which caused the VGA issue to reappear as before. It's odd since the new board doesn't have any VGA or GPU problems.
Currently, I'm still using the old Wraith Spire board, which is fully powered and working. I've also applied fresh thermal paste to the new CPU.
It should take sufficient time for the BIOS to complete its initial startup and configure the RAM settings. I recently encountered a comparable problem during a weekend setup, and pausing for a few moments resolved it. Have you attempted booting with just one RAM module installed so far?
The CPU cooler isn't suitable for the 5700X3D. It's only compatible with CPUs that have a 65W TDP, while your model has a 105W TDP.
I've checked three pairs of RAM and attempted to boot using one stick per pair, so I'm pretty sure the problem isn't the RAM itself. This is what's puzzling me.
I'm expecting a new cooler to allow full booting, but I'm not sure if that would resolve the issue.
The cooler shouldn't prevent it from starting. It might even indicate a problem with the motherboard.
I'm experiencing the same problem with the new motherboard, but instead of a VGA indicator, it's displaying a DRAM light and completely failing to show any display.
