It depends on the OEM parts used. I faced issues with Corsair DDR2 on Intel, and several units didn’t work properly. Now I avoid purchasing from them.

I initially thought their problems stemmed from how widespread they were, especially with those overpriced vengeance (rgb) components everywhere I saw before DDR5 arrived. I ended up buying bare PCBs with manufacturer branding on them—Hynix, Klevs, Samsung, and various chips like Micron or Crucial. However, when I needed to look for a specific IC such as the D9QBJ it turned out to be faulty, I’d just request that exact part. Sometimes I received OEM-branded items that weren’t from the original manufacturer, like HP for those D9QBJ cases, or even Chinese-made products with rebranded ICs on top. This made verifying them really frustrating. My PSCs are all transcend-branded, so I don’t worry too much about missing XMP support while I’m manually tuning RAM and risking performance loss.

Those offer dual-rank options like 8GB and 16GB sticks when you buy OEM bare PCBs, avoiding random errors. You can pick the exact I/O you need using the model number—like m378a1g43eb1 for an 8GB dual-sided die. This setup supports 2x scaling and low TRFC, making future RAM upgrades smooth since the I/O matches perfectly. For quad-rank configurations it can be a bit tricky to reconfigure past overclocks unless you're using Intel or a Cessna APU (5500/5600G/5700G).
