Hey, I'm not sure if anyone can help, but I'm trying to figure this out. I have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and a B450 DS3H motherboard. I just got Corsair Vengeance RAM 32GB at 3200MHz. In BIOS I see my RAM capped at 2133MHz, but when I try to enable XMP, it crashes with a black screen. I can't even set the speed manually because it's locked in auto mode. Maybe I've made a mistake and overlooked something simple. Do others have similar problems?
However, you could attempt to configure it manually without using XMP. Start by opening the system, navigating to advanced voltage settings, adjust DRAM voltage to 1.4V, then modify advanced frequency options as needed. Set memory multiplier to 32 and fine-tune RAM parameters in the appropriate menu. Try values like 18-20-20-20-56 and save your changes. If it functions, revert back to BIOS and adjust the memoey multiplier to match the CPU’s maximum FCLK (e.g., 3800 MHz). Ensure your RAM supports at least 4000 MHz clocks, as most 16GB modules should handle it. Unless you can locate a reliable source easily, it’s better to stick with dual-rank OEM 2666 RAMs like hma82gu6djr8n. Unless you find an easy reference, keep those kits aside.
AMD chips in the 7000 series often face RAM problems. The best approach is to adjust the settings manually or switch to a different RAM package and test it. Ensure your BIOS is up to date.
He might have been able to. This brand has a poor reputation on this site and elsewhere. I own some 3200C16 Adatas that only perform up to 3466, no matter what. I also had to set up DOCP and create a profile since the board didn’t remember them when the PSU was unplugged. It’s functioning just at 2000:1 with some older Team B-Die units now, which is fine. It doesn’t always work as smoothly with Ryzen. It isn’t Intel either—Corsair needs to improve their memory offerings significantly.
It seems buying OEM bare PCBs can offer some advantages when you don’t have to worry about all the hassle. The only branded RAM I’ve picked is my Xtreem Dark 1066C6, which is because micron D9 chips are hard to find in India. Still, they perform well and branded RAM really stands out—so even cheap bare PCBs might be better in some cases. I don’t think a small change in the PCB will make much of a difference; my Transcend PSX bare boards handle over 2800, while AMD FX or the 970 Extreme3 only reach around 2700 on Windows and freeze at 2640 on BIOS. That’s why I prefer the higher-end options.
Thanks for the feedback. It seems I might have to go back to them eventually. My bios are current, I've tried most of the advice given, but it feels like the problem is with Corsair's RAM. Appreciate the help—hope a different brand works better!
