I understand what you're going through. It's frustrating when you lose money to scams. I've had similar experiences too—once I lost a lot to fake bots.

You can still log in via your browser, which suggests the issue is with your skins rather than your account itself.

I found this discussion on Reddit about a potential issue. Someone examined it and claimed it could be a Steam account stealer. So here’s the advice: you might have a virus. Try using another device, reset your Steam password, and turn on two-factor verification. Also review your bank account if you have credit card details linked to Steam. They may have made purchases too. Then proceed to remove any malware from your system.

They seem to have accessed your account without proper steps. Check if two-factor verification was enabled and if the email trade feature was turned on.

This means only someone with the correct code on your phone can view your email. How could that happen?

Steam recently introduced an updated two-step verification with a mobile app. You might not have enabled it before. The previous version was generally secure, but using your desktop as a safe computer or logging in could risk the file being stolen and allowing unauthorized access without email confirmation.

You updated your password on another device and turned on mobile Steam Guard, which prevents access to your account. No issues detected by Malwarebytes.

I'm not sure the virus is gone, but it's common knowledge—check online to see what others did.

I also ran the Sophos Virus Removal Tool and the Malicious Software Removal Tool on Windows. Neither detected any issues.

Recently it has become clear how they operate to deceive people. It’s a complex method, and it looks like your “friend” isn’t really interested in your Steam account. They didn’t take control of it—they just stole your skins. That means you might recover them. Another point is, you only had 75 dollars worth of skins, which isn’t much compared to the thousands of euros some people lose. The negative side is that you were scammed, and the Steam support policy changed about a month ago. Now they don’t return stolen items.
