Hi there. I recently purchased this new setup: TUF GAMING B550-PLUS AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800X Dark Rock 4 Kingston 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3600MT/s CL16 FURY Renegade Black XMP Straight Power 12 850W TUF Gaming RTX 3060 Ti OC Edition 8G GDDR6X WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD (2TB). It runs the latest BIOS (3205) with cleared CMOS RAM in slots A2/B2. When using the DOCP 3600 Profile, the PC becomes unstable. Testing with PassMark MemTest86 also fails. Setting BIOS to default RAM raises performance to 2400 and passes the test. I've tried various fixes before this—like boosting voltage to 1.40V or changing CAS values—but nothing worked. Any suggestions? Regards, Hiisi

The simplest approach is using the Ryzen Dram Calculator path. All ten of my Kingston dimmer units didn’t perform consistently across the three AM4 boards. I ran them through the calculator and then fine-tuned them further by hand. Be aware, XMP won’t apply automatically—you’ll need to set each timing manually.

You might have to boost SOC, VDDP, and VDDG levels. Keep SOC below 1.2V, but avoid pushing it too far—generally 1.1V is sufficient for 3600MT/s. VDDP and VDDG should not exceed SOC voltage, typically staying around 1.0V for this speed, though often even lower (especially for VDDP). A voltage of 0.95V works well for VDDG and VDDP in many situations. If timing stability is affected by DOCP instability, adjust other parameters like tRFC or tRC. It’s better to avoid tweaking unless you understand the process; as suggested, check your specific memory IC with a tool and use a DRAM calculator to see what timings are recommended.

Load XMP, adjust frequency to 3200, and recheck. Also, remove one stick and verify stability on XMP (DOCP) 3600. Repeat with the other. You may have received one damaged RAM stick. Was it a single set of two 16GB sticks bought separately?

Consider testing 1.4 vdimm instead of 1.35 v. Is there any memory available in the QVL? Otherwise, DOCP isn't assured.

Hello, I'm checking the sticks with DOCP at 3600. Both failed in A2, but the first stick is now running in B2 without issues for some time. If both succeed in B2, does that indicate a faulty motherboard? Thanks for all the advice—I'm reviewing all the suggestions.

The memory controller is situated on the CPU. You might want to inspect the CPU for damaged pins and reinstall it if necessary.

The memory controller is built into the CPU, and RAM compatibility with the BIOS isn't guaranteed—this could be unrelated to a faulty motherboard.

Voltage settings must follow specific guidelines for 3600+ on Ryzen 5000 SOC. For the CCD, use 1v VDDG and IOD at 1.05v VDDP, with 1v VDDG for the core. This approach has delivered optimal performance on my 5800x3d system, and adjusting core voltages isn't necessary.
