It appears the connection is limited to 10Mbps. Open Properties, select Configure, navigate to Advanced, and look for "Speed and Duplex." If available, adjust it to "1.0 Gbps Full Duplex."

@_Syn adjusted the speed and duplex to the default setting, which was 1.0 Gbps. After about half a minute, the connection stabilized and returned to around 10 Mbps.

It might be an issue with the router or the cable. Consider switching to another port on the router or using a different cable.

He used the same cable and port, but switched to a different one on his laptop. Still getting only 9MB. Tried another cable and multiple ports, but no improvement.

It seems the issue isn't with the router itself; he was using the identical one and ports, yet it kept showing 300.

Disconnect the network cable and examine the connector contacts. Verify that all pins are flexible and correctly positioned. Occasionally a pin may misalign and fail to connect with others in the connector, causing the network card to revert to 10mbps which uses fewer wire pairs. Sometimes a pin becomes overly bent and cannot re-establish contact with the Ethernet jack. Ensure these pins remain flexible. A network card will automatically switch back to 100 mbps or 10 mbps if some connections aren't properly detected—such as a loose wire in the jack or shorted pins in the connector. After confirming everything is physically sound, open the network card and force it to return to 1 gbps. Use the device manager, network cards, configure, advanced settings, and link speed options. Select 1gbps with full duplex (if available in another setting). These pins are located on the left side of the jack, where you'll find the gold wires inside.

OK will handle that now. I’ll check the pins on both the PC and router sides for those on the left. It’s really helpful to know this might be limiting it to 10 Mbps.

No signals detected; all connectors appear intact. The router has four ports functioning properly. Thanks for the update—just a note about the pin shadows.

This modification was implemented some time ago. I plan to attempt a restart now. Current status remains at 9mb.
