You're looking for suggestions. Three days ago, no adjustments were made. Speed dropped from around 400 to just 9MB in six months—from a standard Ethernet connection to a desktop PC. The latest Xfinity router and modem reset didn't help. After swapping the Ethernet cable between the router and your laptop, you both got about 300MB down. In another room, your laptop only shows 2.4GHz, while his shows 5GHz. He left, and it's unclear what happened. Ports and cables were changed on the desktop, but the speeds remained low. Someone might need to investigate further.

Did you verify performance across various gadgets to confirm it’s not limited to your main computer?

He uses the same laptop with a 300mb download speed, the identical Ethernet cable and port.

Absolutely, I understand your concern. Are those the only tools you're using?

I used two more laptops from my own, directly connected via Ethernet, same 9MB download speed. Still confused and frustrated—it doesn’t add up.

It seems you're concerned about an issue on your desktop. To begin, reinstalling the Ethernet drivers might help.

No, I haven't altered any of the computer's network configurations.

Never made any changes. In reality, I was working on a 20gig DL and going through the 300-400down, then suddenly reached 9mb.

Navigate to "Change Adapter settings," select Ethernet, right-click it, and choose Status to see the listed speed.
