I've assisted my brother with constructing a tower recently, which has sparked my interest in gaming more—both PC and console titles that run on a PC. The challenge is finding a way to fit this into my current routine, so I'm considering a laptop instead (though it may not be the best fit). My main concern is whether these specifications can handle modern games like Battlefield: Hardline at high 1080p settings. The CPU is an i7 4710HQ at 3.5GHz with TBOOST, the GPU is a 970M 8GB RAM setup. I intend to play several other games too, but BF seems the most demanding multiplayer title, so I'm curious about its performance in multiplayer mode. Most system guidelines are geared toward desktops, so I was wondering what others think. Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback! Your expectations sound strong—let’s make sure it delivers. Regarding compatibility, the price of £1200 suggests it could be a premium option, so testing in both ARMA 3 and DayZ would help confirm performance.

Congratulations on your new setup! This laptop is a solid choice for most games. You might want to upgrade the RAM to 16GB, though it performs well as it stands. Building a tower seems unnecessary given its price, but once you commit, installing one was straightforward.

Looking at the list, it seems to cover all necessary components for building or upgrading a system. The CPU, cooler, motherboard, RAM, storage, graphics card, case, power supply, and monitor are all included. No additional items are mentioned.

I’d prefer a tower more than anything, but I’m not in a position to set one up right now. Even if I created a small ITX, I’d still need a monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Right now it doesn’t seem like there’s a better choice. Plus, I don’t have any way to place a tower with a monitor. As it stands, I’ll be using my laptop on a kitchen table or lap desk.
