I recently received a new Christmas case and moved all my parts over. During the process, I accidentally dropped my screwdriver into the case, hitting the motherboard between the CPU and RAM (possibly even the CPU itself). My setup included: Ryzen 7 3700X from Gigabyte Aorus Master X570, Corsair 3200MHz DDR4 RAM (Balistix 3000MHz), and a 64GB RAM module. I was also running Dark Rock Pro 4 for testing the CPU re-seat process. Eventually, after finishing the transfer and booting up, everything seemed fine. Then I realized I had only 32GB of RAM installed while the system was booting, and it was performing disk checks along with showing an error about memory PMU training at socket 0 channel 0 for both DIMMs. After cleaning the socket and re-seating the CPU, things improved. I’m curious if dropping the screwdriver or applying thermal paste might have contributed to this issue. As a side note, everything worked before I moved the components. Thanks for reading! A tip for future users: If you face similar problems, test each RAM stick in the working slots first. If it resolves, proceed cautiously—clean the CPU thoroughly and try plugging it back in. Otherwise, consider replacing the motherboard soon, as it may have been damaged. I’m still unsure what exactly caused the failure, but my PC is now running smoothly with the new RAM. I aim to thoroughly clean the motherboard with contact cleaner tomorrow and test it. If it doesn’t resolve the issue, I’ll visit Best Buy to purchase a Ryzen 5 5600X and try using it to determine whether the problem lies with the motherboard or the CPU. I’ll update once I have more information.
Was die Stromversorgung beim Ausfall noch vorhanden? War die Zeit von der Abschaltung bis zum Einschalten unter 20 Sekunden? Hast du das Kabel vom Power-Adapter an den Steckdosenstecker angeschlossen? Obwohl die Steckdosenanzeige ein paar Fehler aufweisen kann, vermute ich, dass das Problem bei falschen RAM-Modulen liegt. Meistens funktioniert es besser mit der niedrigeren Frequenz, also 3000 MHz, nicht mit der höchsten. Danach musst du den PC trainieren und die besten CL/CAS-Einstellungen suchen, die für beide Module funktionieren – eventuell stößt man auf eine Einschränkung. Welches PSU hast du?
psu: Corsair RM850x Power failed completely during a drop. It’s been 20 minutes since I unplugged the PC after dropping the screwdriver. I removed the PSU cable and turned it off. The Mismatch pair is still working properly, but only the stick in A Dimms appears now.
I’m the only one who can get this at my shop, hehe (if it works then I’ll figure out what’s wrong, I don’t think a 3700x is that much better)
It's not a CPU issue, it's about RAM. It functions until it can't, so you need to learn how to optimize stable settings. No effort was made on this, and I don't suggest custom configurations. The best option is to stick with the 32GB Corsair or swap the Ballistix for another Corsair with the same serial number and clock speeds as your previous ones. Do you play simulators or use the PC for video editing and high-graphics applications?
