If you're not nearby or lack a board, consider the Ryzen 5 3600 instead. It's well under $250, giving you flexibility to experiment with other components.

06-21-2016, 09:17 PM #63600 it is then. Should I wait for the 4000 series to drop before jumping on a 3600? I can wait for a couple of months. Also, I do not live near a Microcenter and already have a motherboard (this is just an upgrade).

If you’re thinking about upgrading your graphics card in a few years—maybe even the 3700x—especially with a better cooler and possibly a new motherboard—that would help secure your setup. The newer consoles are using 8-core processors now, so future games should too.
