I'm looking forward to increasing my overall storage later on after you set up the NAS. Just checked your latest message after posting. Updated on November 1, 2021 by col01by

I was planning to upload a lot but noticed it might be flagged as spam. Here’s the guide for adding new VDEVS. https://www.truenas.com/docs/core/storag...gingpools/

I think I'll use Truenas, I've got some basic knowledge about it and it's not too costly. Appreciate all the assistance!

No, they are not the same. TrueNas is a brand name, while Unraid refers to a specific product or service in that space.

It was created by a former FreeNAS developer from the TruNAS team who had some differences with FreeNAS. The software isn’t overly problematic, but it lacks many advanced features found in TruNAS, such as native ZFS support. A key benefit of OMV is its Linux foundation, allowing easy integration with Docker, though you might eventually prefer Unraid or traditional Debian/CentOS setups (which still exist).

I fully endorse Unraid. Although it requires an investment, the experience is exceptional. I've used it as a NAS, HTPC, Docker server, VM Hypervisor and gaming PC via virtual machines. It has performed perfectly for me, and online support is excellent. The SpaceinvaderOne videos are among the top tutorials available! https://www.youtube.com/c/SpaceinvaderOne

The accurate choice is DSM, but officially it isn't compatible with devices outside Synology products
