I've been using the 1700x for nearly nine months with the Asus PRIME B350-PLUS, and it has performed well right out of the box. The main issue I've faced recently is the new BIOS released in 3401 to support newer CPUs. I'm having trouble getting power back on after a full shutdown. If you choose this board with BIOS 1002 until another update is available after 3402, I'd recommend it. I'm also running some older hardware that uses PCI, which still works fine. That card is a great sound card, and its built-in components are far better than the standalone ones you'll find elsewhere.

For $270 USD you can obtain a Sound Blaster AE7, offering essentially all the capabilities of the X-Fi plus additional features. Initially I thought software compatibility would be nonexistent for such an outdated chip, but it seems Creative actually provides Windows 10 support for X-Fi cards.
