I often felt the "Historical game" aspect of the AC series deserved its own spotlight. The sci-fi cliché should have been discarded rather than kept in the background. I really enjoyed AC1, except when it pulled me out of the engaging setting into a forced moment about Dr. Horrible. If they had emphasized the history and the depth they could offer, instead of resorting to heavy-handed plot twists, it would have worked better. That’s just my perspective. Overall, I believe the series has stayed consistent in its main themes. Unity suffered due to poor additions and weak port performance; as an AC title, it remains quite enjoyable with a great setting. While the large city feels like a step down from Black Flag, AC3 is underrated—it's not quite the same as Brotherhood (which is more of AC2), but it has many solid improvements and a well-executed historical narrative. Regardless of where you begin, it’s an excellent series despite its flaws. I’m holding off on my verdict for Syndicate until its release.

I personally disliked Black Flag. They turned a previous game into a mini-game without touching it, and built an entire experience around it. Unity works really well. There were no big graphics problems except for some annoying pops. I got Syndicate for free, so I’ll be playing that when it launches. Still need Rogue, as I’ve heard great things about it. And perhaps Liberation just to have it.

Yes, it’s best to tackle them one by one. With so many spin-off versions, figuring out the right sequence can be tricky.

I was always curious about a fresh direction for the story with Desmond from chapters 1 to 3. Noticing modern elements in chapter 3 made me hope it would evolve into a contemporary game focused on player number 4, concluding with an unexpected twist and spin-offs like AC1, AC2, Brotherhood & Revelations, AC3, AC4 (Rogue), Unity, and Syndicate—just minor additions.

It might not be the best term, but checking their site shows several titles beyond the primary line.

There are similar mobile games, card games, and other titles. It doesn't include AC 1, 2, 3, 4 Unity, syndicate expansions, or Rogue as a side game.

If the game doesn’t run smoothly, it can still be quite engaging and fun. They don’t let you save your progress, which is frustrating since I got stuck in AS:Unity in Dead Kings DLC by accident and needed help.

It seems ShaolinBear might be talking about Liberations and Freedom Cry, which are separate DLCs.

I’m not sure if he replied to my question, but it doesn’t impact the main plot of the games much. I’ve got the first one, and I’m about halfway through.
