I've been thinking about improving my CPU and motherboard since switching to an RX 6600. The limitations it creates in games like 2042 and other tough AAA titles are becoming noticeable, as shown by my performance tests. My research comparing benchmarks and prices has pointed me toward pairing a 5600 with an MSI B550M PRO-VDH WiFi. I'm curious if this setup is suitable for my CPU or if I'm spending too much on the board.

A solid 10th generation Intel for a 5600 isn't a massive jump. It's an upgrade, but not a huge one. Pricing details weren't shared, so it's hard to judge the cost.

you can put any AM4 CPU in an B and X board from 300 to 500 and have full functionality... it only depends if you're foaming at the mouth when you imagine not having PCIe gen4 for your m.2 personally I don't think it's worth anything... I actually still recommend the asrock B450M pro 4. it's in credibly cheap and it's only missing internal usb-c header or post debug indicator of any kind. edit: there is a wifi version of that board. I didn't see you had that at first.

Your existing motherboard is fine, upgrading to a used i7-11700 would enhance gaming performance. The B550M Pro-VDH remains a solid choice. Edited April 3, 2023 by Fasauceome

That's a good point, but I prefer PCIe 4.0 over PCIe 4.0 X8 for the same band, especially with a 3.0 version. Using B450 isn't the best choice here.

You can look for a B660 board paired with an i5 13400 processor in local electronics stores or online marketplaces. Prices may vary, especially considering regional taxes.

The primary issues are: my board is a low-end H410 model, and H410 only supports Z490 and 500 series.
