I was looking for parts to complete my i9 12900k setup and came across this memory: DDR4, 4000mhz, C16, 32GB (two 16GB modules). It was listed for $130 on Amazon. Most 32GB kits at that price point run around 3600mhz. The RAM I’m considering is Patriot Viper Elite II DDR4 32GB (two 16GB sticks) at 4000MHz. Anyone know anything about this model? I haven’t heard of the brand before, and 4000mhz is about $180 on Amazon.

I haven't come across the Viper brand before, but it seems legitimate to me. The concern is whether it fits your motherboard and performs well. Unless the brand appears in the QVL, I'd be careful about purchasing it. It might not be compatible with your board, and some reviews suggest it's unreliable or struggles at high speeds.

The problem is there’s no official method to verify the CAS. Only one person said they could retrieve/see C16. No model numbers are available, etc.

Patriot has a long history in the market, and while I haven’t owned their products directly, I’ve heard from a few folks who have. The current listings look like they’re part of the seasonal promotions. I saw someone buy a 32GB 4400MHz CL19 for around $130 on Newegg about a week ago, which seems reasonable compared to some of the better offers out there. Keep in mind that pushing it above 3600MHz can be tricky, and you might end up stuck at 3600MHz. Also, the model number here is CL20, not CL16.

Patriot stands as a notable memory brand, no problem. It's not CL16 but CL20 (20-26-26-46). Despite the cost, it's still a decent offer—though a RAM upgrade for $5 would be even better, with CL18 at 4000MHz.

Thanks a lot! It seems I'm choosing the Corsair 3600 C16 for its reliability.

Patriot is a trusted name. It's interesting how few people recognize them. They've been around longer than Corsair has existed. Upgrading from the 3600 CL16 doesn't seem worthwhile; it's better to keep what you have.

The choice between Corsair and Patriot depends on the particular kit you're considering. Patriot is a trusted manufacturer, though they don't boast extensive overclocking achievements like some competitors. They have a long history and consistently deliver reliable products.

It's not an improvement yet; I haven't placed the memory order.

In that scenario, it's smarter to choose the Teamgroup kit I mentioned.
