I developed a PC and conducted stress tests to verify functionality. No overheating observed. Initially, the NVidia driver failed and the GPU didn’t report temperatures or deliver strong performance due to non-spinning fans. Updating the driver resolved that problem. The issue in Cyberpunk 2077 is different: the system struggles with performance, CPU and GPU hovering around 70-80% usage regardless of graphical settings. In game benchmarks like Unigine Heaven or OCCT, both CPU and GPU reach full capacity (100%) without overheating—GPU stays at 62°C, CPU at 70°C. This behavior doesn’t occur in typical stress tests. I’m unsure what’s causing this discrepancy. Please assist.
It's not unusual for issues to appear in different areas such as RAM, game engine constraints, or overlapping factors. As noted by @PDifolco, the CPU might be the bottleneck. Right now I'm managing with 83% GPU usage and 54% CPU usage. The GPU is drawing 220-250 watts, which is higher than expected for a 320W card. I only notice this during synthetic tests. My setup includes a 9800X3D and an RTX 4080.
However, GPUs tend to behave more linearly, operating within the limits of CPU capabilities (the frames shown). Rendering tasks can be fully parallelized. In contrast, multi-core CPUs struggle to handle that much parallel work from games, as most operations must be done one after another.
I refreshed the bios and now DOCP RAM operates at full 3200MHz. The GPU reaches around 85% usage in that same area while I benchmark in Cyberpunk. Can I increase the CPU overclock on the Asus A320M-E board? Edited May 16, 2025 by GOnker
It wouldn't be surprising if CPU usage spiked under a bottleneck, even if it only reaches around 80%. Your observations about other users having better GPU performance with the same hardware suggest the issue might lie elsewhere.
Verify per-core performance instead of total usage. Likely you have a single core operating at full capacity.
