I once considered my PC to be quite underwhelming after upgrading both the GPU and CPU simultaneously, but that opinion changed when I reassembled my original setup using all its original components. The only adjustments were swapping the case and adding a NH-D15 instead of the previous AIO model. When I started Teardown on it, I achieved around 120 FPS on the original system. Then I loaded the same game world without any interaction and saw only 9 FPS. While games like Cyberpunk typically see a noticeable boost with DLSS enabled, the performance drop when DLSS is off was minimal. I also reformatted Windows on both machines and haven’t altered the settings much. It’s puzzling why a significantly better PC still lags behind my upgraded one, especially since I’ve been using this configuration since November 2021 and only recently rebuilt the old machine. The old specs were: CPU i7 8086k @ 4GHz, NH-D15 GPU, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 250GB SSD, 700W case, Samsung Evo 850, 250GB drive, EVGA 1000W power supply, Corsair Airflow 4000. The new specs are: CPU i9 10900K @ 5GHz, H150i GPU, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 500GB SSD, 1000W case, Corsair Airflow 5000.
Check if your monitor is connected to the mainboard graphics card and if all required drivers are installed.
Check if the game is utilizing the RTX graphics card instead of the internal iGPU in the 10900.
Your new PC features integrated graphics similar to your previous model. Likely, you connected the video cable to the motherboard instead of the graphics card. Ensure all drivers are current. Visit the motherboard maker's site to download required drivers (chipset, audio, etc.). Install NVIDIA GeForce Experience. Open the application and apply the latest driver update. You'll need to obtain the NVIDIA Control Panel from the Microsoft Store; it can also help with other settings.
The standards align with what I anticipated, though actual results differ from expectations: Old scores show Game 122%, Desk 93%, Work 112% CPU on Intel Core i7-8086K; GPU performance is 91.4%, GTX 1080-Ti; SSD capacity hits 134.3%; RAM reaches 2400 C17 2x8GB at 74.2%; MBD scores MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON (MS-7B45) with PassMark results. New figures indicate Game 230%, Desk 104%, Work 249% CPU on i9-10900K; GPU boosts to 103.8%; SSD options include 500GB PCIe M.2 980 NVMe; RAM up to 860 Evo 1TB at 120.1%; and Corsair CMW32GX4M2D3600C18 with 2x16GB at 84.8%.
I executed Teardown from GeForce Experience with their "optimized" configuration and achieved an average of 7fps. It's important to mention that GPU utilization remained unchanged, while CPU activity stayed low—around 5% on average. I also don’t have a feature to enable IGPU support.
On a 10900K at 5%, it's about one thread under heavy use. What happens when you run a real game?
