Hey! I just assembled my very first PC. Here are the details: CPU – Intel i7-13700K, motherboard model Asus TUF Gaming Z790-PLUS with Wi-Fi (BIOS: American Megatrends Inc., version 0812, dated 2023-02-24). RAM – 32 GB (16x2) Trident Z5 at 6000 MHz with XMP enabled. Graphics card – Asus TUF Gaming RTX 4080 OC Edition. Cooler – Noctua NH-D15. Case – Lian Li Lancool 216 SSD, two 1 TB SN850X drives. Power supply – Corsair RMx 1000. I used the original cables that came with the PSU. Everything worked smoothly after installation; it booted normally and ran without issues during initial tests. I installed Windows as usual, updated drivers, and played games without any problems. No frame drops or freezes.
However, when I tried to play Spider-Man Remastered and Control, my PC would crash to the desktop after a few minutes—sometimes 15 minutes, sometimes up to two hours. I suspected the GPU wasn’t getting enough power, so I ran FurMark stress tests. The GPU handled temperatures between 65-70°C at full load. Next, I checked CPU performance using CInebench; it was fine.
I went through several troubleshooting steps: cleaned graphics drivers, lowered game settings, verified file integrity, updated Windows, disabled DLSS (as suggested on Reddit), re-seated the GPU and cable, re-installed RAM, double-checked all connections, and even tested for faulty peripherals. Nothing seemed to cause the instability.
