I assembled a new PC after using a 2500k since 2011. My setup includes a 5700x ASRock B550m Pro, 16 GB Mushkin Redline Stiletto, RX6650xt processor, and a Neo Forza NFP445 1 TB SSD. Everything functions smoothly, all components are detected correctly. I just installed the latest Windows 11 from Microsoft. However, booting is extremely slow—any file explorer or window takes seconds to open. Rendering files is painfully slow, and accessing disk information feels like it takes minutes. Even resizing windows is laggy. There’s nothing installed, and the task manager shows minimal activity across CPU, memory, storage, and network. The CPU temperatures hover in the 30s, yet the crystal disk reports over 3GB/s read/write speeds. It’s confusing—could this be a hardware problem or something else? Anyone have encountered similar issues?

Have you updated the chipset drivers and any additional drivers for your system? Also, did you configure power management to use maximum power?

The chipset drivers were applied without affecting performance. Power settings were adjusted to high. The system runs 100 times slower compared to a new machine.

Ensure the drive exceeds 4GB/s speed. Was it placed in the M.2 slot nearest the CPU? Is RAM installed in slots 2 and 4? You might want to check the BIOS and tuning options there. Begin with a BIOS reset.

Ram installed in slots 2 and 4. NVMe is located near the CPU. Performed a BIOS reset.

I’d explore the documentation thoroughly and configure it properly. The default options are basic and may not be ideal. Look for the newest BIOS release, and during a fresh build I’d always upgrade to the latest version that matches your CPU on the board. Just keep resetting to the defaults afterward and shift toward a more efficient configuration.

I refreshed the bios with a flash drive. Made minor adjustments to RAM and CPU configurations (disabled power-saving mode) and kept everything the same. I'm feeling stuck. It seems like reverting everything would be easier. Clicking the desktop feels slow, taking more than five seconds to open the menu. This is slower than a spinning hard drive. A cloud reset of Windows didn't help.

It seems the issue might not be the main reason, so let's verify: ensure the CPU fan is fully secured (if adjustable). Even with normal temperatures, it could be too slack. Check that thermal paste covers the CPU and fan base. Review HWINFO for any irregularities—temperatures and fan speeds should look typical. Consider saving a screenshot of HWINFO if needed.

The CPU cooler features a clamp design with no screws involved. It performs well thermally, with quiet fans operating at a slow spin. I’ll share the HWINFO later today.

I haven't installed any GPU drivers myself. Did you download and set up the drivers from Nvidia or let Windows handle it automatically?
