I switched to a WD Black NVME and saw no change. Later, checking HWINFO revealed PROCHOT EX is enabled, capping my CPU speed to just a few hundred MHz. Is this due to a faulty motherboard sensor?

The CPU can reach its maximum operating frequency under stress, which varies depending on the processor model and conditions. Typically, high-frequency operation is limited by factors like thermal throttling or power constraints.

When conditions are acceptable, loosening the cooler and reusing the thermal paste may not fix the delay, and adjusting its temperature isn't likely to help.

The signal never exceeds 547 MHz, as indicated. HWINFO includes a different parameter such as "actual frequency," which remains below 200 MHz.

It suggests a PROCHOT EX module, likely an external component. Checking your motherboard's BIOS version and reviewing the temperature sensor data in HWInfo can help identify the problem.

All readings except PROCHOT EX are fine. Temperatures stay at 31°C or below, voltages appear normal. Updated BIOS to P3.20 but no changes detected. Motherboard returned for replacement. Will update once it resolves the problem.

Based on what you've seen online, the problem likely lies between the motherboard and the CPU. It seems the motherboard might be the source of the issue, while the CPU appears to be functioning correctly.

The motherboard had issues. Looking at it close to the CPU, it was evident some components were absent from the original unit. The new one fits perfectly. Appreciate your assistance.
