Hello, I'm looking for assistance with a problem where my motherboard isn't supporting the 3600MHz RAM speed. My setup includes: BIOS version F65d, Ryzen 9 5900X, Gigabyte B450 Elite V2 RAM, G.Skill Ripjaw F4-3600C18D-32GVK, dual 16GB kits, NZX Kraken X63 PSU, and a Vampire 1000W power supply. I'm using an XMP profile in BIOS but still see only 2666MHz. I've tried everything and hope someone can help resolve this issue.
The kit isn't listed on Gigabyte's Compatibility List, and GSkill doesn't mention Intel processors in the specs. It seems the Memory Controller is adjusting memory settings unexpectedly—setting 2666 instead of 2133 at 3600 MHz. That’s a bit confusing. Also, it looks like both sticks are placed in the furthest slots on each channel.
The memory controller on the 5000-series performs well, and the CL18 with those timings is quite flexible. I recall seeing Gigabyte boards sometimes not adjusting the DRAM voltage according to XMP requirements—often around 1.35V.
Found the information on another site about the kit being available for this mobile. The RAM sticks are DDR4_1 and DDR4_2.
I've worked with DDR4-3600 on 3000 and 5000-series chips in single-channel setups. Running 128GB across four 32GB modules helped, but I opted for 3200 to ease the memory controller load. Have you attempted resetting the CMOS and turning on XMP to prompt a retraining?
It means removing the battery for about two hours and then reinserting it, which I did, but it didn’t work. I believe the problem is related to the board—possibly a controller issue, since sometimes after an XMP update the voltage drops from 1.35V to 1.26V.
Avoid removing the battery and letting it rest for two hours. Simply switch off the device, disconnect the power cable, and connect the jumper above the USB3 port by touching the pins. Set the DDR voltage manually to 1.35V, activate XMP, and restart. This method works on some GigaByte boards even if they don’t adjust to the XMP requirements.
