Fascinating piece, appreciate the sharing! It's hard to foresee either perspective getting much focus, as many believe it boils down to financial interests.

I believe the real problem lies with GameWorks, not GameWorks itself. This is the core of our discussion. You took a one-sided approach by pointing to AMD’s use of it as the main issue, which overlooks the bigger picture. Suggesting AMD license their technology doesn’t align with how things should work. nVidia is actively trying to keep AMD at arm’s length, possibly using legal means to protect their interests.

The developers collaborate with both AMD and nVidia to enhance game performance. AMD is increasingly teaming up with more creators, while nVidia focuses on optimizing features like PhysX. It seems unlikely anyone would face significant performance drops if these partnerships align properly. Unfortunately, most titles stick to just one manufacturer's tools. I believe AMD could integrate their TressFX code, and nVidia could tailor it for their hardware, ensuring better optimization without access barriers.

It wasn't about taking sides; what's happening is that right now Nvidia is developing their own proprietary software. AMD and ATI used to support it too, and they might again do so. I have no loyalty to either side, and I currently run both desktop and laptop setups with them. I’d be happy to switch between them in the future if needed.
