I think Arkham Origins isn't as terrible as some claimed. It's quite alike to Arkham City, unless you're okay with that, then it's a good choice.
Origins offers a distinct storyline with a completely different atmosphere and style compared to the earlier titles. It stands apart from the previous games in both tone and presentation. If you're looking to bypass it, you're missing a significant part of the Arkham saga. This entry is an origin tale, much darker and more intense than before. The Joker in Origins carries a sharper, more erratic edge reminiscent of Heath Ledger, and Batman displays a tougher edge at times. I understand this might not gain much traction, but Origins is my top pick in the series. It's definitely worth experiencing, particularly if you already have it. I appreciated the mood, enjoyed the voice performances, and found the villains compelling. Asylum was actually my least enjoyable entry—don't let that deter you!
I really enjoyed Origins. It expands on City's mechanics without reinventing them. This results in a minor enhancement compared to Arkham City. Still, the narrative in Origins stands out as the most compelling among the three Arkham titles. I won’t reveal too much, but it effectively introduces the Arkham world. You’ll notice a young, frustrated Batman taking on various threats—gangs, organized crime, and even the GCPD. If you love the Arkham series (especially City) and have Origins, it’s worth your time. Also, I thought Troy Baker delivered a great performance as Joker. If he takes over from Mark Hammill, I’m happy for it.
