I previously had issues with UBlock Origin being disabled in Chrome. It was a known problem at one point, and alternatives like Adblocker were tried before switching to UBlock. You might want to look into modern extensions such as uBlock Origin itself or other ad-blockers that are actively maintained. Check recent forums or the Chrome extension store for updated options.
They are hindering the backend features of these extensions, preventing any method to bypass the manifest from being used. This change means switching browsers will become the only viable option soon after the rollout began in January and will conclude this year. Brave, Firefox, LibreOffice, etc., continue to function properly.
I suppose it is an option for now but lets be honest - if google sees merit in it they will find a way to screw adblock users over again. They will only let it slide if the userbase becomes low enough and the advertising revenue line goes up. BTW, correct me if I'm wrong, but the extension shall also be removed from the extension store? Meaning no updates and no way to install it for new users or after re-installing the browser.
