Hello! I'm a newcomer here and need some advice about internet problems... For about a month now, all devices have gone completely slow—down to 0mb/s for around 5 seconds, then back to normal. I've contacted the ISP multiple times, they replaced the modem, but it still doesn't work. They say nothing is wrong with the settings. The only option they suggest is upgrading to a Home Hub 4000/Giga Hub and increasing our monthly fee by 7cad. I don’t think that’s the real issue—I’m actually using Ethernet on my PC and experiencing these brief outages. Any suggestions or feedback would be really helpful!

Consider these factors:
- Outdated Ethernet or wireless drivers, though this won’t affect every device.
- Changing between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi (or turning off 5 GHz completely).
- Faulty Ethernet controller, such as the Intel i225v.
- Specific traffic patterns or malfunctioning devices causing the drop.
- The cable connection inside the house (e.g., loose socket) or outside the house (external cable).
Check the event viewer for any logs about disconnections to aid in pinpointing the issue.

The issue seems linked to a port-related fault.

It seems like the issue might stem from a faulty driver or a malfunctioning hardware setup. I recall encountering similar issues when I isolated those components, which only got resolved by adding a 120mm fan to improve airflow. Would you like to know more about troubleshooting steps? Also, do you have the chance to purchase your own modem?

No, the timestamps do not align with the disconnections.

The overheating might be a problem... I thought it wouldn’t be a big deal, but fixing it would be simple, so I’ll check the ventilation. “Yeah, it seems like either a faulty driver or a failing interface.” Also, does the network stop working completely? I imagine I can’t see network issues in Event Viewer. “Can you offer the chance to own your own modem?” Not with Bell, honestly.

Do you own a dedicated router, or does it combine a modem, router, and Wi-Fi access point?

I believe I misunderstood the interface issue. The combo box seems to be malfunctioning—possibly due to overload or a hardware problem. Since it's the ISP's responsibility, they should handle the replacement at no cost. If they refuse or charge, inquire about using your own equipment, which is usually more affordable and offers better performance.

I have a separate router. The configuration starts with: Modem (Home Hub 3000) → Random medium-priced D-Link router → My PC via 2 Ethernet cables on this one. You still face outages even with the modem's Wi-Fi.
