I've been part of the Call of Duty esports community for some time, often participating in LAN events. The audience numbers are strong, but the scene remains focused on casual play. Many believe Call of Duty isn't a serious competition because it doesn't require advanced skill. There are valid reasons behind the criticism, and I'd like to share some genuine insights. Thanks!
COD stands out in the FPS sector thanks to its massive following. With such a strong audience, it's likely that children or younger individuals will easily notice them, regardless of group size. People generally dislike immature behavior, and COD has been linked to this trait.
Due to the poor quality of PC ports, Infinity Ward decided to launch FPS titles without FOV adjustments and with peer-to-peer matchmaking. The PC edition of Black Ops 2 performs well, though it still uses peer-to-peer matchmaking.
Welcome to the discussion board! Keep your topics selected so you stay updated when someone replies in my signature. You’ll find useful links to the CoC and the forum’s FAQ section. I’d like to share my personal reasons for not liking CoD: 1) it runs on a modified ID Tech 3, a graphics engine from 1999 (not related to esports, just something I wanted to mention), 2) only two weapons are available at a time, 3) killstreaks give you bonus kills making comebacks nearly impossible, 4) movement is very slow and doesn’t let you escape quickly if caught off guard, 5) jump height is disappointing, and 6) you’re killed almost instantly, leaving no chance to retaliate from behind or at an angle. 7) there’s no ammo gathering, so you don’t need to explore the map for supplies. 8) players start with different power levels, giving an early edge to some. 9) “Quickscopes” actually trigger an auto-aim system, making them easier than manual aiming. 10) the map design is poor and limits surprise attacks. 11) the field of view is tight, making unexpected kills even simpler. I hope this addresses your concerns. Reaching the top does require effort and commitment, but once you surpass a certain level, the randomness balances things out so it’s hard to tell if victory comes from skill or luck.
some ideas are understandable but csgo also includes 2 guns. esports don’t rely on killstreaks. quickscoping isn’t common in esports generally.
