Cyberpunk 2077 faces its fate amid overwhelming hype, while fans will continue denying its inevitable decline. CDPR had already adjusted details such as microtransactions before launch, and it seems the visuals will likely drop, mirroring what happened with The Witcher 3.

you're right, hype trains have crashed before, but I don't think CDProjekt has let anyone down yet. even with lower graphics, The Witcher 3 remains one of the top RPGs ever made. also, considering about seven years—maybe five accounting for development time—they’ve had enough time to deliver a solid game.

Sure, a 2060 super would be about 750 NZD. I hope you can find something similar to a 1660 Ti at around 500 NZD.

Highly publicized titles often fall short of expectations, and those who mislead players to boost sales before launch usually fall flat. Games like Watch Dogs’ E3 2012 debut didn’t quite deliver, while developers who exaggerate features tend to miss the mark. Half-Life: Alyx succeeded partly because Valve understood they needed authenticity for a major VR experience.

The issue revolves around what information will be omitted. The 40-minute demonstration addressed all key points, so if little changed, it should meet user expectations.

Microtransactions, as I've mentioned earlier.

It's exclusive for multiplayer, and since CD Projekt usually doesn't restrict content beyond cosmetics, I think it's okay if it locks only cosmetic items. Even then, if the locked content matches the quality of Bread & Wine or Heart of Stone, I'm fine with that.

And here we are with the justifications. I’m not confident microtransactions won’t become too intrusive. Think about Gran Turismo 6 and how Polyphony Digital faced backlash for changing how many credits players earned in races? On CDPR, there’s no acknowledgment for the graphics downgrade of The Witcher 3—they claimed the trailers would set the final game’s visuals, but instead of admitting they’d reduced quality to improve performance, they played it off with clever distractions. A straight answer would have been simpler than pretending not to address the issue.

It’s not about meeting expectations, though. Even without the excitement, I’m fine. What matters is a game I can enjoy and something CDPR can deliver.
