I configure it with more powerful options than the default and seldom exceed 1.8 GB consumption on my 970. Witcher 3 uses very little RAM.

You could really push it to its limit, I can handle two 970s unless the additional four threads on the i7 matter.

Your configuration files appear to be customizable settings for nVidia cards. You can adjust parameters to boost performance. Which driver are you currently employing?

Ah ye I thought I read it somewhere, there is a video here : http://wccftech.com/witcher-3-cpu-benchm...0g3258-oc/ It compares Pentium, i3, 15 and i7 and in normal play there is too much difference, however when they go into Novigrad the i7 pulls away by as much as 20 FPS on some scenes

This performance seems quite poor. Are you experiencing slow RAM or a failing hard drive? I typically use higher configurations (e.g., AA = on, AO = HBAO+, Foliage = high, texture quality = ultra, shadow quality = high) on a Xeon E3-1231v3 + GTX 970. With 8 GB DDR3-1600 and not playing TWC3 since my 16 GB DDR3-2400 setup, I usually maintain around 57 FPS in Novigrad. Your settings appear too low for optimal results.

The processor is slowing me down. Your chip runs at a significantly higher frequency than mine, which affects game performance. Are you using a 3440x1440 display? And are you employing G-Sync? I need to stay above 60 frames per second. Edited January 9, 2016 by Senzelian

Occasionally on my 1080P IPS screen, others on my 4K display struggle with 60 FPS at 4K resolution. I assumed a 2x 980Ti would fix the issue for 1440P.

Regular GTX 980 units. Not exactly what I expected... I purchased a 980 two weeks post-launch and another one about three months later for SLI.

But even then, some clocking remains, and the problem persists in busy spots. I appreciate it now that I know I invested in the i7—it's a positive sign after paying for the i5. I usually chose i7 over i5 just in case, since i7 860 was better. Things could get worse if the AMD FX chips turn out to be terrible.

I understand, right? What is this? I can turn off V-Sync but it doesn’t really help. I’m pretty sure I can reach 100% CPU usage too. How can I verify this? What does it mean hehe? Your ASUS Z97-K seasonic 620W Corsair DDR3 8GB/1600 GTX970 G1 WD 1TB SATA3 SSD 250GB BX100 with i5 4690K? What game is this? When I drop even to 50 FPS, it feels like my brain is slowing down. I really dislike anything below 60 FPS. That’s why I play at lower settings—I checked this a while back when the issue was still there. - GPU min 30 max 57 CPU min 34 max 68 RAM max usage - 5.2GB, it’s just temperature, I’ll check GPU soon! Dafuq? I’m running it like garbage at 1080P; it stays low almost all the time, even when I’m in the city for a while. What’s going on? That’s why I’m upset.
