I received the update about two hours ago. It seems it didn’t work properly—my games like Fallout 4 and Thea: The Awakening aren’t running at all. Offworld trading company isn’t working either. I’m confused about what happened and don’t know if there’s a fix or a way to undo the update.

You can revisit earlier versions of Windows via the provided link. When something fails, what breaks?

Turn off and then turn back on your graphics drivers. If this doesn’t help, reinstall them.

Just a quick check, what did you think? Have you confirmed your save data was backed up? If yes, reinstall the games and import the saved files from Steam, Origin, or the client side—make sure they’re stored on the cloud if available. If not, look for the save files and copy them to a safe location like a different folder or thumb drive. Regarding your question, you can revert the update by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Advanced Options > View your update history, then pick the version that suits you. For the dev preview team, choose the bottom uninstall option; otherwise, select the top one that should roll it back.

You might need to install a DirectX runtime. Your graphics card drivers could be outdated or missing. The Device Manager is displaying an issue, but you haven’t checked it. Keeping quiet about the exact error messages isn’t very useful.

I upgraded using GeForce Experience to the latest graphics drivers, but nothing has changed. Here are two error messages I receive: https://imgur.com/a/FbQCf. Unfortunately, for Fallout 4 (the German version), this is quite common. For Thea, there appears to be a resolution issue that might affect other games as well. All these games functioned fine yesterday. I’ve tested random titles—League of Legends and Mount and Blade Warband work without problems, so I’m unsure what’s causing the problem.

The initial warning indicates your game is set to 1920x0 at zero frames per second, which is not feasible. The smallest possible display size is 1x1 pixel refreshed once per second—meaning each pixel updates only once every second. At zero frames, there are no pixels to update. It seems an application or a GeForce Experience issue altered your settings file with this incorrect value. Remove the GeForce Experience software, locate its configuration files on your PC (possibly in Documents or AppData), and adjust the resolution to 1920x1080 at 60 frames per second. Typically, such settings are stored in a *.ini file, which you’ll need to back up if Steam doesn’t preserve them. If Steam doesn’t maintain backups, uninstall the game entirely and reinstall it.

It might be an installation issue (I saw one a couple of weeks ago when using deamontools lite, which caused text problems on a friend's PC after we removed it—now it works fine). Be sure your backups are up to date and reinstall the problematic versions.

I don’t see anything similar in my fallout4.ini file. The Thea: The Awakening ini isn’t present either. I can’t locate the game under my documents or My Games. For Fallout 4 there’s no setting for resolution or height. It seems these games are on Steam, so it’s unclear how relevant this is. They’ve been installed for a while now.

I successfully adjusted the resolution using the launcher, then reinstalled it. After that, the game functioned properly once I removed GeForce.
