I recently purchased a Tenda AC10 1200Mbps router. I followed all the steps correctly—connected the cables, set up the device, entered the ISP login details. After resetting the router and trying again, it still won’t connect. The internet status displays an invalid username or password error. However, when using a wired modem connection, everything works perfectly.

What type of internet link are you using? Could you share the brand and model of your router or modem?

They refer to the IPSM (Internet Protocol Switching Module) model using Netlink version 2801 for communication.

You need to input PPPoE details because the fiber gateway handles the connection setup, but your router still requires these credentials for authentication and access control.

I don’t understand much about them, but I saw the ISP wire connects to the PO box, so I thought it was fiber. To find out if you have DSL or cable, check your connection type or contact your provider.

I'm certain it's fiber. You don't need to re-enter PPPoE details on the new router. Actually, you should enable bridge mode on either the Tenda or the ISP equipment. Fiber gear usually acts as a gateway with built-in router/switch/AP features. Adding another router would trigger double-NAT. So you'll need to either change the fiber device to just a modem and connect the Tenda as a regular router, or switch the Tenda to AP mode so the upstream device can handle routing/DHCP, etc.

my device is just a modem, but i contacted my ISP. they checked the Tenda router on different networks and found it to be a manufacturing issue. i’ve processed a refund through Amazon, thank you for your help.

I purchased the identical model once more with the same issue; my ISP provided an outdated D-Link router until they realized the problem. However, the D-Link device isn’t linking to the internet either—it displays incorrect credentials or a wrong password, even though both are valid and it never establishes a connection.
