The VM took my network card.
The VM took my network card.
I have one Ethernet cable connected directly to the motherboard and a Wi-Fi card installed. I used Virtual Box some time ago but didn’t restart the PC, so when I did, it took over the Ethernet and blocked Windows from accessing it. I don’t want the VM to use the Ethernet, but if needed, I’ll switch to my Wi-Fi card.
Virtualbox typically doesn’t take over any real network port unless you adjust settings. It generates a virtual interface which gets sent to the virtual machines. Verify that the configuration is enabling bonding or pass-through for the network card with VMs or similar options.
Is there active networking connected to the PC? Usually a virtual switch is established, so the host network adapter isn't used.
I'm running the host operating system, have Wi-Fi available but no Ethernet connection on the host machine.
Adjusting the network bridge configurations in VirtualBox can alter how your system connects to the internet or local networks.
It seems like the setup didn’t go smoothly. Please capture a screenshot of the Network Adapters section titled "Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections." I noticed the Network Driver isn’t starting. You might want to remove any leftover Virtual Network Adapters, uninstall the Intel Network driver after ensuring you have the install file, restart the system, and then reinstall the driver. After that, retry the installation process.
I removed VirtualBox and cleared the virtual NIC. I restarted it now. Then I'm about to reinstall the drivers.
The Windows update is taking a long time, and now it's time to wait while my Wi-Fi works more slowly.
