On Black Friday I’m searching for a CPU and wondering if the additional 30 CAD is worthwhile for a higher-quality stock cooler or if it’s better to keep the stock model on the 2600 or spend that money on another third-party cooler.

Hold off for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals—you might secure a 2700 or 3600 at a better price. For your main concern, the 2600x doesn’t justify the higher cost. Cooler depends; are you thinking about boosting performance?

I've seen people point out that overlocking on ryzen is a must. I'll be using a Gigabyte B450M DS3H but I'm still kind of scared to do it. Is it easy or "safe" I know theres and inherent risk to it though.

Not mandatory, but it's a good idea. Have you purchased this board yet? A superior version is available for a few extra dollars. It's worthwhile, particularly for those aiming to boost performance.

Hey... don't touch that board unless you already have it. Grab something else like the Pro4/AC from ASrock or the B450 Pro A from MSI.
