While assembling the PC, I realized Windows couldn't be installed from a USB stick (it worked on another machine). I used a fresh USB installer, but it failed. I attempted to run Windows from another PC's hard drive and connected it, but that also didn't work. Once installed, the system would freeze and display a black screen with a blinking white bar. I completed the boot sequence.

The installation from USB fails due to compatibility issues, incorrect drivers, insufficient storage space, or corrupted files.

I configured the USB flash drive with Windows, verified the boot sequence in the BIOS/UEFI, and activated USB booting within the UEFI/BIOS settings.

I refreshed all system settings, reran the boot sequence, and now I’m prompted to restart and choose the correct boot source or insert storage in the selected device before pressing a key.

The default Windows USB installer runs in UEFI, but the board lacks UEFI support. You might need to use a DVD instead if it can't boot properly from the USB device as Windows requires.

Use an older Rufus version to create a USB drive and set the boot option (MBR for vintage motherboards).
