It seems socket covers are typically placed on the exterior. This design allows them to come out easily when you install a CPU and secure the metal hinge. If they’re inside, they won’t pop off. I’m not sure if this matches your setup or the images from Gigabyte. Could you confirm? Also, did you see the socket cover you received look different from the one shown on their website?

This occurred with a board I previously sold. I inquired if the buyer wanted to repair it, but they declined. I proceeded with the return. It was straightforward.

It popped out with a lot of effort, but I had to apply quite a bit of pressure. I don’t have a reference for the force used, but once it released, the cover bounced slightly inside before I took it off and saw the socket. This video shows the exact board—it seems the seller might have moved the cover instead of placing it correctly. My main issue is that the hooks on the covers are bent in various ways, making it hard to attach them properly to the metal cover. I could try placing it on top and securing it with cello tape, but I’m not sure if that’s the best solution.

I handled the main portion and successfully trimmed it. It’s a bit crooked though.

You're referring to how the package usually opens on its own during installation. If you need extra security for shipping, you could apply masking tape. But I'm not sure if the seller will accept that as a condition.

It seems the return process isn’t working because the item shows "paid" and hasn’t been shipped. You’ll likely need the seller to complete the necessary steps. The best next move is to reach out to the seller via the "more actions" option.

This is starting to sound like the seller is either incompetent or was trying to sell a defective board from the start and cover his tracks. I know newer products are cheaper, but this is a HUGE reason I will never buy used tech.

The buyer received the item without tracking details, yet the package is visibly yours. Was this purchase made from a brand-new seller?
