Hello everyone, I'm switching from a Palit GameRock 1070 to a PNY 3080 XLR8 REVEL EPIC-X. My motherboard is an ASUS ROG Strix Z590-F. You can find images of both here: GPU - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pny-gefor...79-pn.html MOBO - https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-st...ifi-model/. I attempted to install the GPU today, but it didn't fit properly and was blocked somewhere—possibly due to the SATA ports on the right side. The gold teeth fully engage, but the PCI-E latch didn’t click. I removed the card and tried the 1070 again; it clicked in easily. When using the 3080, I applied about three to four times more force. Nothing worked. I’m worried about damaging the board if I push it further, especially with the Mobo being bent. Online discussions suggest most people think it’s a user error, but I can fit and remove the cards easily. Both models cover the SATA ports, though the 1070 fits without trouble. Can anyone share similar experiences or solutions? I’ve reassembled the system for tonight and will post more photos tomorrow. Thanks a lot!
Verify your PCIe connectors; if the SATA cable is intact, it shouldn’t interfere. This issue usually stems from user settings, not hardware failure.
You should verify the connections and functionality. The ports are oriented toward the front, not upward, so it’s likely a setup issue. It’s 1am in the UK, and you’ll need to wait until tomorrow to share any images.
Your issue should be addressed first. The full seating isn't possible mainly because of the PCIE bracket in the top 3-4 slots. There shouldn't be any components close to the SATA ports unless there are a few extra cables or you're using 90-degree connectors instead of flat ones.
This discussion involves the same problem as you experienced with SATA ports.
Thanks for the link! I checked the forums before but probably didn’t find it, so I’ll attempt it again tomorrow.
An ASRock user reported the same issue in their design. It appears several brands are following the same flawed approach. Consider returning the MB for an RMA, as multiple GPUs may share the problem. Request a refund and switch to another model.
