Hey everyone, I recently upgraded to the RTX 5070 (previously had the 3080 - 10gig). I just finished the installation, followed the instructions carefully by using three different PCIe power cables with the adapter. After reconnecting everything and turning it on, I noticed the red light was on but not flashing. Since that’s normal when the system is idle, I pressed the power button and the light turned off. The computer started up and displayed nothing on the screen – completely blank.

I’m not sure what’s going on. Everything worked fine with the 3080, so it was just a simple swap and added two extra cables since splits aren’t supported. I also installed a Y-cable for the front USB ports and a new 4TB M.2 SSD (still not visible but under review).
Here’s what I have: two new cables for the adapter. I removed the 5070 and reinstalled the 3080, connected the new cables, turned it back on, and got a working screen.
Does this mean the card is faulty or could there be another issue I’m missing? Should I look for updated power cables for newer graphics instead of the three with the adapter? Also, I reached out to Asus because I’m unsure what else to do and they suggested a return or repair process. Once the card arrives, it should take 7-10 business days for them to inspect and fix it. I also want to note this is the second card I ordered for the 5070 – the first one arrived damaged.
Before I end up waiting another month on a card that might not work, do anyone have any tips or alternatives I could try?

Before investing time in another card that might never be used, do you have any ideas to try? Maybe someone else has suggestions.
Consider donating your RTX 5070 to a friend or neighbor with a solid 850W power supply. See if the problem continues. If it does, the issue is likely with the card. If not, the fault lies with your motherboard, probably.

I've linked the 5070 and BAM, everything is working. Unfortunately, I still need to upgrade my motherboard since it only supports PCIe 4 while this card requires PCIe 5. Ugh!
Only a small percentage overall? Involving gaming and using Unreal Engine? I'm mainly upgrading to make my computer better for working with Unreal Engine (creating my second short film), and gaming will be handy when I need to relax from the engine's issues, lol.
Not quite certain about the amount. 5070 isn't a huge bandwidth user.
