I have a laptop that is an MSI GE62 2QD Apache Pro. When you look at the task manager, it only shows one processor (one core) and one thread. I already changed my Windows settings and updated all drivers on the machine. Even though I made sure to select "Boot Box" as the CPU, it still says just one core. Is there any reason for this? Thanks so much!

What computer system do you have running? I wiped out that hardware. Where did you get the installation file from an installer named MSI GE62 2QD Apache Pro? Can you check CPU-Z and see what version of BIOS is currently active on your machine?

Right click on the CPU chart and pick an option to display logical processors instead.

The only BIOS files I have are older ones. The computer runs on Windows 11. When you check the BIOS, it lists the usual number of cores and threads. But when you look at the CPU settings, it also says just one core and one thread. Thanks,

You need to check your computer's startup options in the msconfig file. Make sure you turn off the processor setting, then hit save and restart your PC. That should fix it.

Right clicking on the task manager shows CPU activity so you can see the whole PC or just individual parts like threads. If both options show only one thread, then check the MSConfig setting which usually doesn't need to change at all.
