The title clearly explains the point, so why would anyone choose 4K at 30-20 fps when 144fps at 1080p works fine? Most people just want better performance, not more pixels.

Top spots mostly. Players usually like 1080p or 1440p at 144hz

Improved picture clarity? Those with the right equipment can handle gaming at higher resolutions.

Certain setups can handle 4k at 60fps in many titles. In my opinion, 1440p at 60 or 144hz works best. I’ve stopped using 1080p because a high DPI screen makes it look much worse.

It seems to have a sharper visual quality now, with a broader display offering a more comfortable gaming experience. However, the cost is quite high. In my view, higher refresh rates like 144Hz would be preferable rather than focusing solely on resolution.

Varies with the display dimensions. Larger screens require higher DPI values. A 13-inch 1080p monitor offers comparable clarity to a big 4K screen, while 4K on a 40-inch TV provides a different quality boost than a standard projector image, and so on.

I believe the hardware is not suitable for 4K. It seems expensive, around $5000, and only grants two-year access rights for PCs.

IT LOOKS GODDAMNED BEAUTIFUL. If you have a TitanX, those things handle 4k like a champ. There is a reason only rich people game at 4k, i dont know anyone who has an average gaming rig who games at 4k, thats just stupid. Some people do other things at 4k then turn down their resolution when they want to game.

1080p appears quite low when compared to 4k, and games typically don't run smoothly at 20-30fps unless you're using a very old system like a 290 with heavy MSAA settings on Crysis 3... 4k with ultra textures and low other settings works best (most games handle it). In my view, that's the best I can get. 1440p at 144Hz is another possibility, but a $1k monitor isn't realistic for most people.
