You're looking at a system with a 290Hz refresh rate and a 3570kHz display, which is on the higher side for gamers. That's definitely above what most people consider standard, but it's not necessarily bad if you're comfortable with higher frame rates. The response from Sauron suggests others are doing similarly, so it's not unusual.
When you can run a game smoothly at 144 frames per second in 1080p resolution, you should also enjoy smooth performance at 40 frames per second in 4K. As for why... it simply appears more polished.
Currently, very few technologies are impressive, and everyone needs an entrance while other advancements keep catching up—whether it's 4K gaming or USB-C.
I don't see the need for 4K gaming; it can strain your graphics card. I favor 1080p or 1440p instead.
The key is that 4K at medium/high settings appears much sharper than 1080p at ultra. I tested both and found it works well. For a satisfying experience, you don’t need to upgrade your car—my R9 290 handles it nicely. You could also buy two units and get close to ultra quality, which would be more affordable than buying something like a 980. And coding it is a breeze if you’re up for the challenge.
The reasons against it amuse me. I play on a 1280x1024 screen, which let me use an affordable graphics card while keeping high detail enabled. Back then, with new monitors or upgraded systems, people debated the same thing—bigger screens, higher resolution, more power needed to display them clearly. It's curious how every time new technology appears, the same conversations happen. Everyone seems focused on spending more money. Things get bigger and faster, marketing teams try to persuade you, and they collect your funds. It's just how things work!
One 290 is impressive. If you see many of them, it's unusual. People with 960 or 280x playing at 4K at 10fps look quite low.
