I halted the average deep scan since it consistently remained at svchost.exe CPU 100% in Task Manager. It shows low activity in the open hardware monitor.

That was it... I adjusted the power settings on my computer earlier due to latency problems with my Focusrite audio interface and NVIDIA drivers. I switched it for audio production as Focusrite recommends, but I reverted to the standard settings just to check. The CPU returned to its normal 5% usage.
