Hello. You damaged the power cable and caused a surge, which likely tripped the circuit breaker. Fortunately, you're using an UPS, but it seems the PSU might be faulty. It’s possible the motherboard is affected too. These power supplies are designed to fail under stress, so if they warn of a short or surge when powered on, it’s a good sign. For your situation, you’ll probably need a new motherboard if the PSU is indeed damaged. If you’re planning to replace parts tomorrow, make sure to have everything ready.

It seems like you're suggesting checking the PSU. You'd need to examine the board and other parts to determine if they're faulty. You can't be sure until you perform a test.

I understand you're looking to resolve this quickly. Can you clarify if you're hoping for it to be installed on the motherboard or stay inside the PSU? This will help determine the best approach.

Both options are feasible. Power units aim to avoid damaging adjacent components, though this isn't assured. So... take a chance?

It varies by store rules. Most retailers permit returns if the product remains undamaged and in its original condition. Keeping it unopened can also be beneficial. Your financial situation plays a role too. If replacing all parts is within your means, consider upgrading instead of just fixing. For fun, have you tested a different power cable for your PC? It’s possible the issue was a loose power cord rather than the power supply unit.

I also switched to another cable and it worked. The PC is high-end (7850x3d, 7900xtx), but by the time I get home, I won’t have the chance to visit shops again if it’s not functioning. I need it fixed right away, haha.

You're asking about a warning, but the context isn't clear. Could you provide more details or clarify what you mean by "the ups"?

If the PSU has failed, it's time to activate the 10-year warranty and replace it.
