I would say you could try restoring back to defaults then trying it again and seeing if it helps. Thermals seem fine, the Clock speed seems a bit faster on the newer run by 100 mhz but that could just be something else. Also check your XMP settings, and then other then that you just gotta test a few things in bios.

Thanks! It's unclear how it was done. Can you explain further?

I've been working with 3D Mark for a while now—maybe a few minutes or even longer.

I'll do it tomorrow off a clean boot and double check bios. I was able to oc the i9 to 5.8 all cores. Some hitting 5.9. I think it shows that in the test. Just so weird. My pc was down for 4 weeks waiting for 3090. I slapped it together today and ram the 3d mark right away. I changed nothing. And saw that low of a cpu score ? Doesn't make sense

It's concerning that my CPU test FPS dropped unexpectedly. That outcome is quite surprising.

It doesn't seem logical at first, but your performance was similar to the 2080 Ti when considering your score versus average results and several test runs that outperformed you. It might be related to RAM speed—your 3090 uses 2200–2132 MHz while the 2080 Ti runs at 3200 MHz. The differences in timing and clock speeds, especially with DDR4, could significantly impact scores on CPU-heavy threads.

Adjust your RAM settings, buddy. Or upgrade to something higher if it's hitting the 3200MHz limit.

It's strange how things changed. I'm switching it now. And do you think DDR5 would improve the i9's performance?

I agree and disagree. DDR4 offers decent performance but with tighter timings. DDR5 remains costly. Replacing your motherboard and RAM for a few thousand dollars in a synthetic build doesn't seem worthwhile. You have a solid motherboard—stay with it. Consider getting a 4400MHz DDR4 or something around 4800MHz. Or look for a 3600MHz option with B-die tech and fine-tune it. Success depends on your CPU matching all cores and having top-notch cooling.

I understand, I’m new to RAM stuff. My system has a fully custom water loop, which helps keep things stable. I’m looking for a good DDR4 RAM setup. Where should I start searching?
