So far the post has been closed for more replies. I’m facing an issue where I can’t access my local C: drive despite instructions to load from Windows\System32\config. The message says to use C: instead of X:, but I can’t reach it. My other drive (D

It seems the disk isn't loading properly. 1. Try running DiskPart and view the results: diskpart list disk, select disk X, partition # Replace X with your C drive's disk number. 2. Also run chkdsk and check the output: chkdsk C: /r. If the drive is BitLocker protected, you'll need to unlock it using manage-bde -unlock C: -RecoveryPassword [RecoveryKey].
Maybe the situation is different, and your WinRE registry editor should let you reach the "SOFTWARE" file in the config folder without issues. Some users fixed the problem by switching from Boot X: drive to a local C: drive. Since the X: drive is often seen as a special version of Windows, changing that path might help.
Sorry for the delayed response (I was at a festival), but honestly, you're amazing and we're all legends. It's frustrating when you follow a guide step by step only to realize something is missing. The disk is unlocked. I'll keep you posted as I work on solving my main challenge of logging into my computer.
