The PC remains on the post-screen display for five minutes prior to starting Windows 11?
Hi, I'm trying to figure out why my motherboards post screen stays on for five minutes before Windows 11 loads properly. It began after I moved my PC from one case to another. I’m not sure if it was related to that move or something else. It happened for a week after installation into the new case and then stopped. Here are the details:
Specs:
- CPU: 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13900KF 3.00 GHz (4 months)
- CPU cooler: icue h170i Elite capellix XT (1 month)
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Gaming x ax (3 months)
- RAM: 64gb Corsair RAM DDR5 (5 months)
- SSD/HDD: samgsung m.2 1 tb x 2, Kingston Fury Renegade 2tb, Samsung SSD x1, Barracuda SSD x2 (all 1 year old)
- GPU: Gigabyte Rtx 4090 (5 months)
- PSU: Evga SuperNova G5 1000W 80+ Gold - Full Modular, (1 year old going on 2)
- Chassis: Corsair 10000D (1 week old)
- OS: Windows 11 Home
- Monitor: AOC curved monitors x2
- Motherboard bios version, F5 as shown in my bio
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
When posting a thread of troubleshooting nature, it's customary to include your full system's specs. Please list the specs to your build like so:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. Include the make and model of your parts. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time?
Do you have two 32GB DIMMs (good) or four 16GB DIMMs (not so good)?
Are you using extremely high XMP settings above 7,000MT/s?
Are you pushing the CPU and GPU to their limits?
It seems your system is gradually improving memory performance during startup, but a five-minute warm-up is unusual.
Turn off XMP and any other overclocks to test.
Currently, the memory frequency is at 4533.33 mt/s. The Xmp booster has already been disabled. I'm not sure about other overclocking systems. I just went into the bios, exited it, and it now boots up instantly. I also shut down my PC and turned it back on; it works fine now. However, it takes a few minutes to turn on again, which keeps happening.
If this ram arrived in pairs of two sticks each, check if you can locate the matching stick for the one you examined.
Place both sticks into their correct slots for dual channel...testing.
