Hello everyone, I’m facing a tough situation. My old AM4 CPU failed, so I’m planning to upgrade to an AM5 configuration with DDR5 and a new processor. Here’s what I have set up: - Motherboard: B650M Aorus Elite AX
- CPU: Ryzen 5 9600X
- RAM: G.Skill F5-6000J3636F16GX2-R5SK (DDR5)

I’ve assembled several PCs before, so I’m fairly experienced. At first everything worked well. After putting everything together, I tried to boot but didn’t see a startup screen. The DRAM indicator on the motherboard turned red. I followed all standard troubleshooting steps: swapped RAM slots, updated BIOS to version F31, removed and reinserted the CMOS battery. Still, the system won’t power on properly. The power switch doesn’t activate, and the only way to get it to turn on is by pressing the Flash BIOS button, which then shuts off immediately. I also tested shorting the power switch pins, but that didn’t help. When I tested the PSU and power switch on my old motherboard, they functioned correctly. After flashing the BIOS, the DRAM light went out, but the CPU light flickered briefly. After rebooting, the DRAM light reappeared. Both the motherboard and CPU are refurbished but carry quality assurance seals, and the seller confirmed they’re working. I’m stuck. Have you any ideas on what to try next? Or should I consider a new motherboard? Thanks ahead for your support!

Have you tested the memory on another machine? Have you attempted to reinstall the processor? Are there any bent pins in the connector?

It might be a RAM problem. Have you tested with just one stick without XMP settings? Otherwise, verify that the CPU is correctly seated and inspect for bent pins or any physical damage (including the motherboard and traces).

You can try removing all RAM modules at once and then reinstalling them. If that doesn’t work, check if your motherboard supports XMP and ensure it’s properly seated. If the issue persists, contact support for further assistance.

I don’t have another DDR5 board to test the RAM, but I’m not sure the issue would be a bricked chip. I re-seated the CPU and shared some pin photos, but wouldn’t it turn on the CPU indicator if the pins were bent rather than the DRAM one?

Not always, my motherboard showed 'no CPU' when my RAM was overclocked too high, and nothing loaded with no memory. Sure, everything seems connected—just double-check everything. I once spent hours updating BIOSes just to fix a loose RAM stick. If the system starts up, enter BIOS settings and disable XMP.

Check the instructions at the provided link. Verify the BIOS version F30 for Gigabyte and confirm the correct motherboard model.

You had to wait a considerable amount of time, especially on AM5, sometimes for several minutes.

It seems the PC isn't starting properly right now, which is the primary issue.

I have an 8-pin CPU plugged in, a 24-pin CPU fan, a PW switch connected, and a RAM stick installed. (Don’t worry about the missing CMOS battery—just power it up. The system won’t start.) I’ve put the flash drive in with F30 installed, but when I press the flash button for 5 seconds, nothing appears.
