The PC fails to start the operating system.
PC experienced a sudden crash recently. Since then, it cannot boot into any operating system. The BIOS remains functional, but the live USB of Zorin OS, Windows recovery, or installation on SSD/HDD fails to start. A brief logo from the motherboard maker appears, followed by a spinning icon and the message 'Preparing Automatic Repair'. When attempting to boot via USB, the Zorin OS interface presents a menu with choices like OS try, safe graphics, or modern Nvidia drivers. This screen stays active until an option is selected, after which it clears, displays Linux command logs briefly, and restarts.
System details: Windows 10 64-bit, ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 4, Wi-Fi AX, BIOS v5.01 (latest), 2x G Skill Aegis, 16GB DDR4, AMD Ryzen 5 3rd gen, 3600X Matisse, Rosewill TACHYON 1200 SSD, 256GB NVMe M.2, PCIe Gen3x4.
Consider these options: 1. Reset the CMOS to reset BIOS settings back to defaults. 2. Attempt to boot without the Silicon Power SSD, as I encountered issues with defective drives bought from Amazon. Success is encouraged!
I removed the SSD and started up with the CMOS cleared; it didn’t seem to resolve the issue.
From the error logs of your Linux boot attempt, it seems the processor might be the problem. It could be helpful to reinsert it and check that it fits properly in its socket. You might also want to try reseating the RAM and GPU just in case. For more thorough testing, consider using a different CPU to see if the issues disappear. Since you're using an AM4 platform, finding a suitable CPU for testing should be straightforward—any repair shop can provide one, or you could buy an R5 5500 at a low price now, keeping it in mind that you might need to return it if the problem persists. Good luck!
I resolved the issue by purchasing a new CPU. Appreciate the assistance!
